ZIP code 90805 has three middle schools—Hamilton Middle, Lindsey Academy and Lindbergh STEM Academy—all serving grades 6–8 in Long Beach Unified. In 2025–2026, their average proficiency was 38% in English language arts (ELA), 21% in math and 17% in science, compared with California averages of 49%, 38% and 36%. Most importantly, every school was below the state in all three subjects, with the group’s largest average gaps in science and math.
Lindsey Academy led in ELA and math, with 40% proficient in ELA and 25% in math—about 3 and 6 percentage points above the other two schools’ averages.
