Zip code 90701 has four schools: three K–6 elementary schools—Niemes (John H.) Elementary, Burbank (Luther) Elementary, and Kennedy (John F.) Elementary—and one grade 7–8 middle school, Ross (Faye) Middle. The clearest overall academic standout is Kennedy: in 2025–2026, it was the only school above California’s rates in ELA, math, and science.
Kennedy led all four schools with 58% proficient in ELA, 51% in math, and 42% in science—9, 13, and 6 percentage points above the state, respectively.
