St Victor Elementary School

Academic is low, especially in science and technology. This school has not changed a bit since it was established in the 60s. There is no music program (even the neighborhood public school has an official music program where the 3rd grade students play violin). Parents are required to contribute 40 hours in helping the school in cleaning, sweeping, painting, and other various mundane activities that do not have any constructive impact to the school except financially. Parents are also required to purchase $2000 gift cards per academic year for fundraising. If parents could not meet this amount, they will have to pay $250 penalty fee. The after school program is extremely lacking. Students are not supervised during the homework session, and often children return home with the entire set of homework unfinished. After school is charged per hour. If you pick up your child one minute into the next hour, you will be charged for the whole hour. And if you pick up your child after the after school ended, you will be charged $7 per minute. We find that this school put tremendous amount of time and efforts on making profits, but not in the education and the success of the students. Under the poor leadership of the current school principal, this school has been a huge disappointment to us.
