Salesian College Preparatory

Salesian High School is in what one can refer to as a death spiral. In recent years, enrollment has dropped. The desperate administration responded by slashing programs, especially honor classes and languages (only Spanish is currently offered), cutting outstanding faculty members, increasing class size (most classes are around 30 students), and lowering admission standards. The result is fewer and less rigorous academic opportunities, increased disciplinary issues, and lower faculty morale, which makes it a less able to get students in the first place. The current administration is unqualified, non-transparent in their decision-making, and of questionable competency. While Salesian is safer than the surrounding public schools, its educational opportunities are actually less. If you want a good baby-sitting service, choose Salesian, if you want a good education, there are many better choices.
