Open Quote As of 2015, I have one child enrolled at Lick as a sophomore. He graduated as the Valedictorian of his middle school, and scored extremely well on his SSAT and ISEE tests. He got into every high school he applied to, and chose Lick because of Headmaster Eric Temple's words during an Open House, "There is nothing more dangerous than an intelligent person without a conscience." If that saying resonates with you/your child, I encourage you to look into Lick. It's a special place.

Since starting at Lick, my son has 'found his people'. Open-minded, motivated, intelligent, creative, engaged and engaging - all adjectives he uses to describe his new friends. Just last week he said to me: "These last two years have been both the most difficult (he has a 4.0 - but is finally being adequately challenged) AND the best of my life. I am the happiest of all my middle school friends." Not all high schoolers can make that kind of a statement. Close Quote

Open Quote Lick is tops...

in any measure! It is also unlike all others: each student takes a shop course each semester.

It has the highest median SAT score in the state, last I heard, but admits about 20% who do not "test well" but have compensating talents....

The typical Lick grad is NOT comfortable in bragging about the school.

Their motto might be "If You Have it, DON't flaunt it.". They have it. In spades.

About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
