Open Quote Riordan is a fantastic school, and a fantastic school for young men. The faculty and staff are truly committed to helping students grow and learn about themselves in a challenging and open environment. The students are kind, thoughtful boys. Close Quote

Open Quote My son had a great high school experience at Archbishop Riordan. We were unfamiliar with all-male school environments but when we came to the open house in the 7th grade, my son was hooked and there was only one high school he really wanted to go to. It was an easy social transition and he was the only student from his SF Catholic grammar school to go to Riordan that year. The brotherhood is real.

Coming from a girl-heavy school, I was interested in someplace that knew how to teach boys and what was normal behavior for them. I also like the size of Riordan. It’s not so big that the students get lost in the masses but not so small that it’s not a typical high school experience. Between athletics, music, student leadership, campus ministry, AP classes, drama, and about 30 clubs all with mentors there are so many choices for your son to spread his wings and he is encouraged to do so.

The teachers are great! They truly care about their students. The Administration and staff are professional and available. The counselling department is amazing. I was very impressed around the time of my son’s Junior year with the college applications preparation. There were rounds of meetings with college counselors, discussion of options, workshops, test prep, time lines, and reminders.

There is a vibrant and active parent community with opportunities to get involved. School events fill the calendar to participate in every week. It’s an incredible feeling going to a high school sports event with your own 70-piece marching band leading the crowd in cheers and school spirit. Archbishop Riordan High School will forever be in my heart as a place with people that gave great care in helping develop my son into the person that he is today. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
