Summary

Sierra View is a K–8 school in Visalia, California, serving 438 students in Visalia Unified. In 2025–26, 33% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA), compared with 49% statewide and 48% in the district; math proficiency was 23%, versus 38% statewide and 31% districtwide; and science was 15%, versus 36% and 31%. Its results were also below the averages for nearby schools in all three subjects. The most important takeaway is that Sierra View’s overall proficiency is behind state, district and nearby-school benchmarks.

ELA is Sierra View’s strongest subject relative to its other results, while science is its weakest. Compared with nearby-school averages, Sierra View was lower by 12 percentage points in ELA, 12 in math and 14 in science, and it outscored only two, three and two of the 10 nearby schools in those subjects, respectively. One notable exception is 8th-grade ELA: 60% were proficient, above the state rate of 49% and district rate of 45%. Nearby Oak Grove Elementary had a higher 8th-grade result, at 72%. Sierra View’s 3rd- through 6th-grade ELA results were all below their corresponding state rates. Fifth-grade science is especially low: 14% were proficient, compared with 35% statewide and 30% districtwide.

Math shows the clearest improvement over time: proficiency rose from 10% in 2022–23 to 23% in 2025–26, while the gap to the state narrowed from 25 to 15 percentage points. ELA rose by 3 points and science by 5, but neither narrowed its state gap. SchoolDigger ranks Sierra View 4,580th of 5,804 statewide, at the 21st percentile and one star.
