Summary

Cottonwood Creek Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 627 students in the Visalia Unified School District, representing a solid, mid-performing option that is showing strong recovery from recent challenges.

The school has clear academic strengths, particularly in mathematics and science, where its proficiency rates exceed both district and state averages and are among the best when compared to nearby schools like Royal Oaks Elementary and Veva Blunt Elementary. It also demonstrates exceptional effectiveness in supporting special education students and English learners. While performing well, it is useful for parents to know that a nearby school, Linwood Elementary, achieves higher proficiency in English and math, and schools like Liberty Elementary in the neighboring Liberty Elementary district show lower chronic absenteeism.

Cottonwood Creek manages student attendance well relative to the state average and uses its resources efficiently to achieve these outcomes. The school's performance has been improving since the pandemic, and its science program is a notable area of excellence. However, parents may want to inquire about consistency across different grade levels, as student performance varies between subjects depending on the grade.

Open Quote our experience with the school's teaching standards and cirriculum caused us to look for a better educational atmosphere for our children. we especially were dissappointed with the general lack of education when it came to the autism spectrum or other IEP type situations. We left the district about a year and a half ago due to the adminstrators lack of communication and unwillingness to work with parents, etc. since then a new admin has been instated and I am hopeful they will fill the gap that many parents felt existed at the school.
