Summary

Scandia Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 432 students on Travis Air Force Base, operating within the Travis Unified School District in Solano County.

The school has two standout strengths: exceptional science achievement and excellent student attendance. In science, nearly 60% of students are proficient, significantly outperforming the district, state, and nearby schools like Foxboro Elementary and Suisun Elementary. Furthermore, its chronic absenteeism rate is remarkably low at under 10%, which is about half the district average and far better than many schools in the neighboring Fairfield-Suisun Unified district. The school is also notably effective in supporting students from low-income families.

When compared to its closest neighbor, Travis Elementary, Scandia excels in science while Travis has higher English Language Arts scores; both schools benefit from high per-student spending and great attendance. Within Travis Unified, Scandia is a solid middle performer, ranking above Center Elementary but below Travis Elementary in overall ranking. The school's performance has shown some variation year-to-year for certain student groups, indicating areas where support strategies may be evolving.

Open Quote I’m gonna start by saying the principal and the vice principal need to go back to whatever schooling is that they had to go to, to become a principal and vice principal. I was told this was the better school than the other school that is located on the base that we are currently at and basically that is not true. I sadly had to switch my three kids from the school because they don’t know how to handle Problems that keep reoccurring since the beginning of school in August. And when you try to talk to them they never know anything or they’re supposed to get back to you I’m still supposed to be hearing back from them and I still haven’t. SMH.. Bullying and kid’s not keeping their hands to themselves is a major problems And if your child defends themself, they get in trouble. Let’s just say I can’t wait till we get out of California. Hopefully, the new school we are going to is a lot better. And it’s making me leave a star because I would not Close Quote
