Summary

Madera Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 264 students in the Simi Valley Unified School District, representing a middle-performing option with notable strengths in science and managing student attendance.

Academically, Madera shows a unique pattern where student performance often improves in the upper grades, and its science scores are a particular standout, significantly exceeding both district and state averages. The school serves a diverse student population and shows effectiveness in supporting economically disadvantaged students, often performing better than nearby schools with similar demographics like Mountain View Elementary. While it doesn't reach the high academic rankings of some neighbors like Vista Elementary or Hollow Hills Elementary, it's important to note those schools serve fewer students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Compared to other local schools, Madera manages chronic absenteeism relatively well, with a lower rate than Park View Elementary or Berylwood Elementary. However, its year-to-year test scores and rankings can be volatile, which is an area for potential improvement. Overall, Madera represents a solid community school that performs reasonably well given its student demographics, with clear strengths in specific areas like science instruction.

Open Quote If I could give it a zero I would have. This is a horrible school. They do not care about bullying and let my child be bullied and they would attack him verbally and physically but when my son fought back HE was the one who got in trouble. My son has autism and the teachers knew when he would break so every single day they would gaslight him then laughed at him when he started to cry and argue. There are so many bullies here and Madera doesn't care they just watch and laugh along. This is a horrible school and I would not recommend that your child should go here unless your child is a little brat who loves to bully other kids then act like a victim. Do not go to this toxic environment. Close Quote
