Summary

Woodside K-8 in Citrus Heights serves 506 students in kindergarten through grade 8, the largest enrollment among the nearby schools listed; most nearby schools serve only kindergarten through grade 5 or 6. Its 2025–2026 proficiency rates were 35% in English language arts (ELA), 26% in math, and 28% in science. The most important finding for families is that Woodside’s results were below both San Juan Unified and state averages in all three subjects.

Science was Woodside’s closest subject to district and state results, while ELA had the largest gaps. ELA proficiency was 5 percentage points below the district and 15 below the state; math was 3 and 12 points below, and science was 2 and 8 points below. Across six nearby schools in the district, average proficiency was 40% in ELA, 35% in math, and 47% in science, putting Woodside 6, 9, and 19 points lower, respectively. Grade-level results show a more mixed picture: grade 3 and 4 math were above district results, at 40% and 37%, while grade 5 math was 18% and grade 7 was also 18%. In same-grade comparisons, grade 5 math was higher than results at just two nearby schools, Carriage Drive Elementary and Mariposa Avenue Elementary. All-grades comparisons are not perfectly like-for-like because Woodside serves a wider range of grades than most nearby schools.

Results have declined since 2022–2023: ELA fell from 38% to 35%, math from 32% to 26%, and science from 34% to 28%, while state results rose in all three subjects. Science did rebound by 10 points in 2025–2026 after falling to 18% the prior year. Chronic absenteeism improved from 36% in 2021–2022 to 24% in 2025–2026, but remained above the district’s 21% and state’s 18%. In 2024–2025, 63% of students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The student–teacher ratio was 21.7, lower than the 24.4–25.5 range at nearby schools in the same district. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking for White students was at the 12th percentile, 22 points below Woodside’s overall percentile.
