Fairfax Elementary serves 359 students in grades K–6 in San Bernardino, within the San Bernardino City Unified area. Its 2025–2026 English language arts (ELA) and math results were the strongest among the nearby K–6 schools, but science was a marked exception. The clearest concern is science: Fairfax’s proficiency was below nearby-school, district, and state results.

Fairfax’s ELA proficiency was 41% and math proficiency was 31%, compared with nearby K–6 averages of 32% and 23%, respectively. The school also exceeded the district in ELA by 2 percentage points and math by 5 points, though it remained below state results by 8 points in each subject. Science proficiency was 13%, below the nearby average of 17%, the district’s 25%, and the state’s 36%; those gaps were 4, 12, and 23 points. SchoolDigger gave Fairfax a 39th-percentile statewide rank and 2 stars in 2025–2026, up from the 19th percentile in 2023–2024 and the highest percentile among nearby schools ranked that year. Its student–teacher ratio was 23.1 in 2024–2025, and 97% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible that school year. Chronic absenteeism fell from 50% in 2021–2022 to 32% in 2025–2026, but remained 14 points above the state.
