Summary

Eastbluff Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 364 students in Newport Beach, part of the Newport-Mesa Unified district, known for maintaining strong academic performance even as the number of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch has increased significantly.

Academically, the school consistently outperforms both district and state averages, with particular strength in science, and shows an impressive pattern where student proficiency rises substantially from 3rd to 6th grade. A standout finding is the school's effectiveness in supporting economically disadvantaged students, achieving an 88th percentile ranking for this group, which is notable compared to nearby schools like Roy O. Andersen Elementary (with a lower poverty rate) and College Park Elementary (with a higher rate). Furthermore, Eastbluff has dramatically improved student attendance, reducing chronic absenteeism to 10.3%, a rate better than the district and state averages.

While its overall statewide ranking has seen some fluctuation, Eastbluff operates with notable spending efficiency, achieving its results with a lower per-student cost than several comparison schools. This positions Eastbluff as a compelling example within its high-performing district, successfully serving a diversifying community while maintaining educational quality and implementing effective support systems.

Open Quote If your kid is sick, they'd rather the kid attend school sick & get all the other kids sick. If your kid needs a day off you have to get a doctor's excuse. This is all inexcusable. School sucks. The food is horrible according to my kids. Her new school - she loves, the food, she loves the teachers, if she is sick they don't want her there and she is learning more. Eastbluff. What's the deal anyway? I don't get it. Close Quote
