Summary

Paul Revere Charter Middle is a large, high-performing public charter school serving grades 6-8 with about 1,715 students in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles Unified.

This school stands out for its exceptional and consistent academic results, ranking in the top 10% of all California middle schools for nearly a decade. Students here score significantly higher on state tests in English, Math, and Science compared to both the district and state averages, and it outperforms most other nearby Los Angeles Unified schools like Marina del Rey Middle and Daniel Webster Middle. Impressively, it achieves this success while serving a diverse student body and spending less per student than many comparable schools, such as Beverly Vista Middle in the affluent Beverly Hills Unified district.

Paul Revere's strength is its effectiveness with all students; it earns high rankings for every student subgroup, including those in special education and from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. A notable challenge is a higher-than-average rate of chronic student absences, which has been increasing. Despite this attendance issue, the school maintains its elite academic performance, suggesting very effective classroom instruction and support systems to help students keep up.

Open Quote Very large school. I was concerned about my daughter getting lost in the cracks or overwhelmed. SO far she has risen to a level of self motivation I have never seen before. Bringing home A's and putting tremendous effort into getting these grades. Very disappointed when she doesn't reach her goals. She is rising to the occasion. She is learning how to speak up for herself, seek out help when needed, organize herself, and advocate for herself. Yes it is a big school, but the programs, teachers we have had so far, and their focus on self reliance have been a strong asset in the beginnings we see here in the sixth grade. I can only hope this continues in the upper grades. She has made new friends, joined a sports team (on her own choice). The teachers are approachable, and my daughter is very happy with them. Chorus is great, PE every day. Although I am happy with her academic performance so far, School is so much more than academics, and so far PR has been impressive, but mostly my daughter's performance has been impressive, which is a reflection of her work ethic and the high expectations her teachers have. I am a persistent and involved parent who talks about and is aware of assignments handed out, I study with my daughter for science exams. I won't allow a teacher to ignore me if I really want to speak with them. So far when I have tried I had no trouble. Anyhow. I believe this school is a good preparation for the challenges in real life, both socially and academically. Close Quote
