Summary

Westmoor High is a large, well-regarded public high school serving approximately 1,278 students in grades 9-12 within the Jefferson Union High School District in Daly City, consistently ranking in the top 20% of all California high schools.

The school has significant strengths, including a very high 93.1% graduation rate and particularly effective support for its economically disadvantaged students, with their performance outpacing the school's already strong overall ranking. However, parents should note a pronounced gap between subjects; while English proficiency is excellent, math scores are only slightly above the state average. Compared to district peers, Westmoor sits in the middle: it outperforms Jefferson High but trails Oceana High, which has higher test scores and lower chronic absenteeism but also serves a wealthier student population.

Despite its stable and solid performance over the last decade, the school faces clear challenges in achieving equitable results for all student groups, with significant performance disparities that require attention. Its resources and outcomes are also interesting when compared to other models, such as Summit Public School: Shasta, which achieves top-tier results with a different operational approach. In summary, Westmoor High is a reliably good school with notable successes in graduation and support for disadvantaged students, but it has clear room for growth in math achievement and ensuring consistent success across its diverse community.

Open Quote My son is a star basketball player in the 8th grade and plan to move in that area so he can play basketball there. School seems cool but checked out their Boys JV Basketball team against Washington the other day, and they looked terrible and coach looked clueless on how to break a full court press. Son said he doesn't want to play there, Doubt I want my son to play there either. Hear academics is good tho.
Have to debate with the wife. Will let my son talk my wife out of it so I am off the hook. The game was really that bad. Close Quote
