Summary

Hart-Ransom Elementary is a K-8 school serving 705 students in Modesto, California, and stands out in its region for achieving strong academic results with notably efficient use of resources.

Academically, the school consistently outperforms both the state average and nearly all nearby schools in English Language Arts and Mathematics. For example, it holds a significant proficiency advantage over the closest school, Alberta Martone Elementary. While its science scores are slightly below its own Hart-Ransom Union Elementary district average, they still exceed the state average and most local schools. The school benefits from being part of a higher-performing district compared to others in the area, such as Modesto City Elementary. A notable finding is the school's exceptional effectiveness with Hispanic students and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, ranking in the top tiers statewide for these groups.

Hart-Ransom operates with a lower per-student spending budget than comparable schools but achieves better outcomes, demonstrating strong cost-effectiveness. The school maintains a lower chronic absenteeism rate than the state average, which likely supports its academic success. However, performance varies by grade level, with upper-grade math being an area for potential focus. Compared to schools like William Garrison Elementary, which spends more than double per student, Hart-Ransom's academic results are substantially stronger, making it a high-value option for families in the Modesto area.

Open Quote This is a horrible school. They have yard duties that don’t do their job. From what they say they don’t get paid enough to deal with kids so they just stand there and pretend to do their job. I know the superintendent, principal, and vice principal get paid more than enough.. I guess they’re just uninterested. Close Quote

Open Quote My son is currently a student at Hart-Ransom Elementary. My son has attended Hart-Ransom Elementary for his Kindergarten and 1st grade school years. We could not be more pleased with the instruction he has received and we plan to send him their until 8th grade. Each year we submit an inter-district transfer because we were concerned with the Salida elementary and middle school.

Hart-Ransom is a good fit for us. Hart-Ransom is a clean, well-run, and friendly school. The classroom sizes are smaller too. Our son's first grade teacher, Mrs. Brickman, is fantastic! She has great lessons and a terrific positive attitude! Our son is excelling academically and socially under her instruction. She is top-notch!

Thank you for the opportunity to share our review about Hart-Ranson. Hopefully, this school will continue to grow and flourish! Close Quote
