Summary

Baird Middle is a public school serving 571 students in grades 5-8 in Fresno, California, and stands out as a consistently high-performing 4-star school within the Fresno Unified School District.

Academically, Baird Middle significantly outperforms both its district and the state, with over 71% of students proficient in English and over 54% in math. This success is especially notable when compared to other middle schools in Fresno Unified, such as Fort Miller Middle or Yosemite Middle, where proficiency rates are often much lower. The school's performance even approaches that of some schools in the higher-ranked Clovis Unified district, like Kastner Intermediate.

A key factor in Baird's success is its exceptionally low chronic absenteeism rate of 7.7%, which is less than a quarter of the district average and indicates a strong, engaged school community. The school has shown historical consistency in its high rankings and effectively supports all student subgroups, demonstrating that its positive outcomes are broad and resilient, even achieving strong results with moderate per-student spending compared to neighboring schools.

Open Quote Rigorous but fun curriculum. My child has had no problems here and has been on the Honor Roll continuously. Nothing but rave reviews. I feared having to send having my child to Ahwanee. Glad I was able to get her into Baird. Excellent staff, excellent all around! Close Quote
