Malaga Elementary is a small K–5 school in the Fresno area, part of Fowler Unified, with 192 students. Its results vary sharply by grade: 4th graders did especially well, with 62% proficient in math and 48% in ELA, while 3rd-grade ELA proficiency was 25% and 5th-grade math was 7%. The most important takeaway is that schoolwide results hide a wide gap between a strong 4th grade and weak results in 3rd-grade ELA and 5th-grade math.
