Summary

Victor F. Hodge Elementary is a K-5 public school serving 460 students in the Azusa Unified School District, where it stands out for its mathematics instruction and improving student attendance.

While the school's overall state ranking is in the 43rd percentile, it performs significantly better than most schools within its own district in key areas. Its math proficiency rate notably exceeds the Azusa Unified average and is close to the state average, outperforming peers like Clifford D. Murray Elementary and Charles H. Lee Elementary. The school has also made strong progress in reducing chronic absenteeism, now boasting a better rate than several district schools. Furthermore, it shows particular effectiveness in serving Hispanic students and students from low-income families compared to similar schools across California, and it achieves these outcomes with lower per-student spending than many district counterparts.

The school faces challenges common across Azusa Unified, which as a district ranks lower than neighboring Duarte Unified and Glendora Unified. This is highlighted by its proximity to higher-performing schools like Valley View Academy in Duarte. Areas for growth include providing more consistent support for English Learners and students in special education. Overall, Victor F. Hodge Elementary demonstrates resilience and specific academic strengths within its district context.
