Summary

Imagine Schools Riverside County is a large K-8 public charter school in Coachella, California, serving 1,454 students in an area where many families face economic challenges.

The school has a mixed academic record, performing below state averages but comparably to some nearby schools like Cesar Chavez Elementary and Palm View Elementary. Its standout strength is an excellent attendance rate, with chronic absenteeism at 12.4%, which is much lower than the state average and all surrounding schools. However, the school operates with significantly less funding per student than most traditional public schools in the Coachella Valley Unified and Desert Sands Unified districts.

An interesting comparison is with Peter Pendleton Elementary, a nearby school with a very similar student population that achieves much higher test scores, showing what is possible in the area. Imagine Schools shows stronger performance in English Language Arts in the upper grades but has significant challenges with middle school math. While it serves some groups of students adequately, there is a noticeable performance gap between female and male students that the school may need to address.
