West Park Elementary

The two schools in the West Park Elementary District serve different grade spans: West Park Elementary serves kindergarten through grade 8 and has 286 students, while West Park Charter Academy is an alternative school serving kindergarten through grade 12, with 165 students. In 2025–26, the charter led in all-grades English language arts (ELA), while the elementary school led in math and science. The most important finding is that neither school reached California’s proficiency level in any of the three subjects.

The charter is the relative ELA leader, with 27% proficient compared with 23% at the elementary school, a 4-point gap; both were below the state’s 49%. The elementary school led in math, 15% to 7%, and science, 9% to 2%—gaps of 8 points in each subject. California’s rates were 38% in math and 36% in science, also well above both schools. The difference between the schools appears in matched middle-grade results, too: the charter led in ELA in grades 6 and 7, while the elementary school led in math in all three shared grades, 6 through 8.

Recent results show no consistent upward trend. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, the charter’s math proficiency rose by 3 points, but its science result fell by 8 points; the elementary school’s science result rose by 2 points, while its ELA and math results dipped slightly. SchoolDigger ranked the elementary school 5,353rd of 5,804 schools, in the 8th percentile, in 2025–26, after a 14th-percentile ranking the year before. In 2024–25, its student-teacher ratio was 12.9, compared with 17.9 at the charter; free/reduced lunch eligible enrollment was 83% and 84%, respectively. The charter also reported a 75% graduation rate, versus 88% statewide. These schools serve different grade spans, so their all-grades results are not fully like-for-like.
