The five schools in San Lorenzo Valley Unified serve kindergarten through grade 12 across two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and a K–12 alternative school, with 2,228 students combined. In 2025–2026, the schools’ average proficiency rates were above state figures in English language arts (ELA), math and science, though the averages give equal weight to each school. The most important difference is in science: results range from 64% at Boulder Creek Elementary to 36% at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary, a 28-point gap.
San Lorenzo Valley High leads in ELA, with 65% proficient—16 points above the state rate and 16 above the lowest school, San Lorenzo Valley Middle, at 49%, roughly level with the state. Boulder Creek leads in math at 53%, 15 points above the state and 18 above High, which is lowest at 35%. It also leads in science, 28 points above the state. Recent results point in different directions by school: Middle improved in all three subjects from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, by 3 points in ELA, 7 in math and 1 in science, while San Lorenzo Valley Elementary fell 8 points in math and 14 in science. Across the five schools, average results declined by about 1 point in ELA, 2 in math and 2 in science as state rates rose. SchoolDigger’s ranking percentile rose for Middle, from 55 to 67, but fell for High, from 90 to 77. Context measures also differ: 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 30% at Boulder Creek and 27% at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary; their student-teacher ratios were 19.7 and 22.0.
