Summary:

The seven high schools in Pomona Unified include six schools serving grades 9–12, Fremont Academy of Engineering and Design serving grades 7–12, and Park West High (Continuation). In 2025–2026, the seven-school average was 48% in ELA, 23% in math, and 22% in science, compared with state averages of 49%, 38%, and 36%. The most important finding is how widely results differ from school to school: the top-to-bottom spread was 67 points in ELA, 33 in math, and 34 in science.

Different schools lead in different subjects. Village Academy High School at Indian Hill led ELA with 75% proficiency, 25 points above the state; its 100% graduation rate is another strong result. Garey High led math at 36% and science at 40%, with science 4 points above the state. At the other end, Park West had the lowest proficiency in all three subjects: 8% in ELA, 2% in math, and 6% in science. Its 63% chronic absenteeism rate was also far above the state’s 18%.

Recent progress is encouraging at some schools, but not across the board. Ganesha High had the broadest one-year gains, up 14 points in ELA, 16 in math, and 14 in science; Park West declined in all three. SchoolDigger’s reported percentile for Garey also rose from 43 in 2023–2024 to 70 in 2025–2026. The 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible measure ranged from 79% at Diamond Ranch High to 94% at Pomona High; these figures describe school communities, not the cause of their results. Student–teacher ratios ranged from 15.0 to 22.5. Fremont’s broader grade span and Park West’s continuation-school status are useful context when comparing results.
