Summary:

Pacific Grove High and Community High (Continuation) are the two high schools in Pacific Grove Unified, and both serve grades 9–12. They differ sharply in size: enrollment is 552 at Pacific Grove High and 12 at Community High. The most striking concern is Community High’s 2025–2026 chronic absenteeism rate of 92%, compared with 21% at Pacific Grove High, 15% districtwide, and 18% statewide.

Pacific Grove High stands out for strong reported achievement: in 2025–2026, its all-grades proficiency was 81% in ELA, 54% in math, and 67% in science—about 32, 15, and 31 percentage points above the state, respectively. Its results were also 9 points above the district in ELA and 5 points above in science, but 4 points below the district in math.
