Summary:

Oak Park Unified has seven schools serving elementary, middle, high-school and alternative-school students, with test-score results available for six schools in 2025–2026. Most reported results are well above state proficiency levels, but the most important finding is that math and science results vary widely from school to school.

Oak Park High leads all-grades ELA at 84% proficient; Red Oak Elementary leads math at 81%, and Oak Hills Elementary leads science at 78%. At the low end, Oak Park Independent scores 73% in ELA, 45% in math and 41% in science; even so, those results are above state figures, by 23, 6 and 5 points, respectively. In the available 11th-grade results, Oak Park High is ahead of Independent by 18 points in ELA, 34 in math and 40 in science. Attendance is a separate concern at Oak View High: chronic absenteeism is 62%, compared with 7% districtwide and 18% statewide.

Average scores across the six reporting schools rose from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: by 2 points in ELA, 1 in math and 9 in science, with science improving at all six schools. SchoolDigger’s ranking for Oak Hills also rose from the 89th percentile to the 93rd. Elementary-school strengths depend on grade and subject: Red Oak leads in Grade 4 ELA and Grades 3–4 math, while Brookside Elementary leads in Grade 5 ELA and math. The elementary schools’ free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025 are relatively close—8% at Brookside, 12% at Red Oak and 12% at Oak Hills—and do not neatly track their results. Oak View High’s 2025–2026 test scores are suppressed and excluded from score comparisons.
