Summary:

The five schools in the Mount Pleasant Elementary district comprise four elementary schools and one middle school, serving elementary and middle grades. In 2025–26, the schools’ average proficiency was 28% in ELA, 24% in math and 19% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. Every school scored below the state in all three subjects; the largest shared shortfall was in ELA, where the five-school average was 22 percentage points below the state.

Different schools lead in different subjects. August Boeger Middle led all-grades ELA at 39%, 15 points above the other schools’ average, while Valle Vista Elementary led math at 31% and science at 27%—9 and 11 points above the other schools’ averages. Even these leading scores were below state results: August’s ELA was 10 points lower, and Valle Vista’s math and science were 8 and 9 points lower. At the other end, Mt. Pleasant Elementary had the lowest ELA score, 22%, and Robert Sanders Elementary the lowest science score, 12%; each was about 8 points below the other schools’ average for that subject.

Recent changes are mixed: the five-school averages shifted down 3 points in ELA, up 3 in math and down 2 in science from 2024–25 to 2025–26. The average gap to the state widened by 3 points in ELA and 5 in science, but narrowed by 1 point in math. Individual results vary: August improved in all three subjects, while Mt. Pleasant’s math rose 10 points and its science fell 14. SchoolDigger placed August at the 33rd statewide percentile, compared with 13th–26th for the other schools; its ranking is a separate measure from test proficiency. Valle Vista, despite having the highest reported 2024–25 student-teacher ratio (25.5), led math and science; ratios ranged from 19.0 at Sanders to 25.5. All five reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–25, from 66% at Valle Vista to 82% at August; these figures offer context, not an explanation for results.
