Summary:
Meadows Union has one school, Meadows Elementary, serving kindergarten through eighth grade, with 352 students. The school’s 2025–26 proficiency rates were 32% in English language arts (ELA), 26% in math, and 19% in science, all below California’s rates. Chronic absenteeism was much lower than the state’s, at 4% versus 18%. The key finding is that proficiency trails the state in every tested subject, even as attendance is a relative strength.
Because Meadows is the only school listed, it is the group’s highest- and lowest-scoring school by default; there is no local school-to-school gap to compare. Against California, math is the closest subject: Meadows was 12 points below the state, compared with about 17 points below in both ELA and science. Grade-level results reveal differences hidden by the schoolwide figures: eighth-grade math reached 32%, while fifth-grade math was 16%, a 16-point spread. In ELA, seventh and eighth grades were highest at 38%, while fourth grade was lowest at 22%. These are comparisons between grades at the same school, not between schools.
Results improved unevenly from 2024–25 to 2025–26: science rose by 6 points and ELA by 4, while math was essentially unchanged. The state gaps narrowed in ELA and science but widened in math. SchoolDigger gives Meadows a 1-star rating and ranks it in the 22nd percentile statewide in 2025–26, up from the 19th percentile the prior year. The student–teacher ratio was 18.5:1 in 2024–25, and 79% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible that year; these figures provide context, not an explanation for test results. Since the list contains only one school, comparisons here are with California and among Meadows’ grades.
