Elementary Schools in Mariposa County Unified

The six elementary schools in Mariposa County Unified all serve grades K–8, and their 2025–26 results vary widely. The unweighted school averages were 32% in ELA and 26% in math, compared with 49% and 38% statewide; the three schools with reported science results averaged 26%, versus 36% statewide. The most important finding is that Yosemite National Park Valley Elementary is the only school whose all-grades ELA and math results exceeded California’s.

Yosemite National Park Valley Elementary leads the group at 76% in ELA and 59% in math—27 and 20 percentage points above state results. At the other end, Greeley Hill Elementary posted 10% in ELA and 5% in math, the lowest results; both are well below state figures. Lake Don Pedro Elementary stands out in eighth grade, with 60% in ELA, 50% in math, and 45% in science, above state results in all three. Those grade-level strengths contrast with its lower all-grades ELA and math results. Mariposa Elementary leads the three schools with reported all-grades science results, at 28%.

Recent results are mixed, and Valley’s ELA jump—not broad improvement—lifted the group average: the six-school average rose 1 point, while the other five schools’ average fell 5 points; Valley rose 33 points. The math average fell 1 point as the state result increased 1 point. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking percentiles also declined from 2023–24 to 2025–26 at Woodland Elementary (32 to 9), Mariposa Elementary (45 to 11), and Lake Don Pedro (12 to 8). School size and ratios alone do not sort results: Greeley Hill and Valley each enroll 25 students but have sharply different results. Their 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible measures were 80% and 16%, respectively; these are context, not explanations.
