Summary:

The Jamestown Elementary area has two schools: Jamestown Elementary, serving kindergarten through grade 8, and Chinese Camp Elementary, serving grades 3–6. In 2025–26, their published all-grades results show sharply different subject profiles: Chinese Camp was above the state in math, while Jamestown was below the state in ELA, math, and science.

Chinese Camp stands out in math, with 45% proficiency compared with 38% statewide and 17% at Jamestown—a 28-point lead over Jamestown. Chinese Camp also led in ELA, with 38% versus Jamestown’s 32%, though both were below the state’s 49%. Jamestown’s clearest relative concern is math, 22 points below the state; its science result was 22%, 14 points below the state. Within Jamestown, grade 5 was a low point: 17% in ELA and 4% in math, compared with grade 7’s 47% and 24%. The schools serve different grade spans, and Chinese Camp’s grade-level scores are suppressed, so their all-grades results are not grade-matched.

Both schools’ math results fell from 2024–25 to 2025–26: from 27% to 17% at Jamestown and from 61% to 45% at Chinese Camp. ELA also declined, from 32.2% to 31.8% at Jamestown and from 46% to 38% at Chinese Camp. Science was a bright spot at Jamestown, rising from 16% to 22% as its gap with the state narrowed from 17 to 14 points. SchoolDigger ranked Jamestown 5,215 of 5,804 schools in 2025–26 (10th percentile, one star), compared with 4,336 of 5,869 (26th percentile, one star) in 2023–24. For context, in 2024–25 Jamestown had 409 students, a 20.4 student–teacher ratio, and 72% free/reduced lunch eligible; Chinese Camp had 30 students, a ratio of 15, and 60% free/reduced lunch eligible. These are contextual differences, not explanations for test results.
