Summary:

Eastside Union Elementary includes six schools: four elementary schools serving K–6, one middle school serving grades 7–8, and a K–8 academy. Across the five schools with reported 2025–2026 results, no school’s All Grades average reaches the state rate. The clearest local standout is Eastside Elementary, which leads in all three reported subjects, though it remains below state proficiency rates.

Eastside Elementary has 30% proficiency in ELA, 26% in math, and 30% in science; it leads the other four reporting schools by 7, 9, and 19 percentage points, respectively. Tierra Bonita Elementary ranks second in each subject, at 28% in ELA, 22% in math, and 19% in science. At the lower end, Gifford C. Cole Middle has the lowest reported All Grades science result, 5%; its grade-matched results are also 25–30 points below state rates in 7th- and 8th-grade ELA and math and 8th-grade science. The Academy’s 2025–2026 test scores are suppressed.

Results are improving unevenly: the five-school mean rose 1 point in ELA and 2 points in math over two years, narrowing the gaps with the state, while science rose 2 points as the state gained 3, widening the gap. Eastside Elementary was a major exception, with science up 19 points, from 11% to 30%; Columbia Elementary fell 11 points in science. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking for Eastside rose from 19 to 27, while Enterprise Elementary moved from 4 to 8. As context, Eastside’s school-year 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible rate was 96%, the highest among the four K–6 schools, yet it led them in all three subjects; these figures alone do not explain score differences.
