Summary:

Nine schools in Delano Union Elementary serve local students: eight are K–5, while Pioneer serves K–8. In 2025–26, their average proficiency was 41% in ELA, 39% in math and 31% in science, compared with state averages of 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. The clearest area-wide strength is math, where the group average was 1 point above the state; ELA and science averages trailed.

The top school depends on the subject. Pioneer led all-grades ELA at 55%, 7 points above the next-highest result at Harvest Elementary and 5 points above the state. Harvest Elementary led math at 52%, 13 points above the state; Nueva Vista Language Academy followed at 46%. Morningside led science at 40%, while Albany Park Elementary was lowest at 16%, 20 points below the state. Fremont Elementary had the lowest ELA result at 30%, 19 points below the state.

Recent changes are mixed: the group’s ELA average fell 1 point from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while math rose 3 points, moving from 2 points below the state to 1 point above it. Science rose 1 point, but the state result rose 3 points, widening the gap. SchoolDigger rankings also vary: Pioneer climbed 18 percentile points, from the 44th percentile in 2023–24 to the 62nd in 2025–26, while Del Vista Math and Science Academy fell 9 points and Morningside fell 10. As context, Harvest had the lowest listed student–teacher ratio at 17.7 in 2024–25, while Morningside had the highest at 22.0; reported free/reduced lunch eligible shares that year ranged from 75% at Morningside to 92% at Fremont. Because Pioneer serves K–8 and the other schools serve K–5, all-grades results are less directly comparable than same-grade results.
