Summary:

The two middle schools in Beaumont Unified serve grades 6–8 and enroll 2,231 students: 1,253 at San Gorgonio Middle and 978 at Mountain View Middle. In 2025–26, both schools improved in ELA, math and science, but the two-school average remained below the state in every subject. The clearest shared concern is math: the schools averaged 30% proficiency, 8 percentage points below the state’s 38%.

San Gorgonio leads the overall comparison, while Mountain View has lower all-grades results. San Gorgonio scored 50% in ELA, 31% in math and 33% in science, compared with Mountain View’s 44%, 29% and 26%, respectively. The schools’ gaps are 6 points in ELA, 2 in math and 8 in science. San Gorgonio is above the state in ELA by 1 point, but below it by 7 in math and 3 in science. The all-grades lead does not hold in every grade: Mountain View’s eighth-grade math result is 31%, 3 points above San Gorgonio’s 28%, though both are below the state’s 36%.

Results are moving upward: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, the two-school average gained 3 percentage points in ELA, 3 in math and 7 in science, narrowing the state gap in each subject. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking percentile also rose, from 44 to 57 for San Gorgonio and from 38 to 47 for Mountain View between 2023–24 and 2025–26. Other reported characteristics may help families compare schools but do not explain scores: in 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible students made up 75% at San Gorgonio and 70% at Mountain View. San Gorgonio had a 21.5 student-teacher ratio versus 19.5 at Mountain View, while Mountain View reported $26,571 in spending per student compared with San Gorgonio’s $23,475.
