Summary:

The College Preparatory Middle District has one school, College Preparatory Middle, serving grades 5–8 with 397 students. Because it is the only school listed, there is no meaningful school-to-school ranking to make. The clearest finding is that its 2025–2026 proficiency rates were well above California’s in all three reported subjects: by 31 percentage points in English language arts (ELA), 36 in math, and 35 in science.

Within College Preparatory Middle, seventh grade stands out in both ELA and math: 95% were proficient in ELA and 86% in math, compared with the state’s 51% and 38%. The school’s lowest reported grade-level results were 69% in sixth-grade ELA and 68% in fifth-grade math; even those were above the respective state rates by 21 and 31 percentage points. Science was more consistent across the two reported grades, at 71% in fifth grade and 72% in eighth grade. Chronic absenteeism was also notably lower than the state rate: 2% at the school versus 18% statewide.

Results declined from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: ELA fell 5 percentage points, math 5, and science 7, while California’s rates rose in all three subjects. As a result, the school’s lead over the state narrowed by 6 points in ELA, 6 in math, and 10 in science, although it remains substantially ahead. SchoolDigger ranked the school 89th of 2,703 statewide schools, at the 97th percentile, in 2025–2026; its previous listing was 25th of 2,761, at the 99th percentile. SchoolDigger also gives the district a five-star rating and ranks it 20th of 968 districts, at the 98th percentile. As context, the school’s 2024–2025 student–teacher ratio was 19.6:1, and 43% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible; California is identified as a statewide-free-meals state, so that eligibility figure does not describe who receives meals.
