Summary:
Yosemite Unified has three high schools serving grades 9–12: Yosemite High (542 students), Evergreen High (46), and Ahwahnee High (35), for 623 students overall. Results vary sharply across the schools, and strong ELA performance at Yosemite does not mean achievement is strong across subjects: in 2025–2026, math proficiency was 21% at Yosemite and 0% at both Evergreen and Ahwahnee, compared with 38% statewide. The equal-weight school average was 7%, or 31 points below the state—making math the clearest shared academic concern.
Yosemite High leads the latest reported proficiency results: 52% in ELA, 21% in math, and 19% in science. Its ELA score is 3 points above the state, while its math and science scores are below state results. Evergreen High has the weakest reported latest results, with 17% in ELA and 0% in math and science; Ahwahnee High reports 20% in ELA and 0% in math, with science suppressed. The ELA spread between the highest and lowest schools is 36 points. SchoolDigger ranks Yosemite at the 45th percentile, Ahwahnee at the 12th, and Evergreen at the 5th for 2025–2026. Graduation rates are a contrasting strength at Yosemite and Evergreen—95.8% and 95.5%, respectively, versus 87.9% statewide—even as Evergreen’s results are low and chronic absenteeism is 46%, compared with 26% at Yosemite and 98% at Ahwahnee.
Recent changes are uneven: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Yosemite’s math proficiency rose 14 points, while its ELA changed little; Evergreen’s ELA fell 30 points, and Ahwahnee’s rose 20 points from 0%. Yosemite’s student–teacher ratio is 20, compared with 22.3 at Evergreen and 17.9 at Ahwahnee, so the lowest ratio does not coincide with the strongest results. As context, each school reported free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–2025: 66% at Yosemite, 76% at Evergreen, and 71% at Ahwahnee. These figures offer no simple pattern alongside the schools’ differing results.
