Summary:

Oakhurst has eight schools—two elementary, one middle, four high schools and one alternative—serving 1,463 students, with enrollments ranging from 25 to 542. The 2025–2026 results show that reported school averages trail California in every subject: 31% in English language arts (ELA), 12% in mathematics and 15% in science, compared with 49%, 38% and 36% statewide. The clearest takeaway is that results vary widely by school and subject, and mathematics is the largest shared shortfall, averaging 26 percentage points below the state.

Yosemite High stands out in ELA: 52% proficient, 3 points above California and 27 points above the average of the other reporting schools. Oak Creek Intermediate leads reported science at 25%, though that is still 11 points below the state. In mathematics, Oakhurst Elementary and Yosemite High are nearly tied at 21.6% and 21.4%, both well below California. At the lower end, Evergreen High has the lowest reported ELA result, 17%, and 0% in both mathematics and science; Ahwahnee High also reports 0% in mathematics.

Results over time are mixed rather than showing broad improvement: across five schools with both years of data, average ELA fell from 35% to 31%, widening the average gap from 14 to 18 points below the state; mathematics stayed about 26 points below the state, while the science gap widened from 9 to 21 points. SchoolDigger’s 2025–2026 rankings place Yosemite High at the 45th percentile, Oak Creek at the 29th, Oakhurst Elementary at the 18th, Ahwahnee at the 12th and Evergreen at the 5th. Other context measures do not neatly track results: in 2024–2025, free/reduced lunch eligible rates were 82% at Oakhurst Elementary, 74% at Oak Creek and 66% at Yosemite High, while student–teacher ratios were 18.5, 18.2 and 16.3, respectively. For comparison, Mountain Home Charter had a 26.6 ratio and 56% science proficiency that year. These measures offer context, not a simple way to predict a school’s results; scores also vary by grade, and some results are not reported.
