Summary:

El Segundo has nine schools—two elementary, one middle and six high schools—serving students from elementary grades through grade 12, including traditional and alternative options. In 2025–2026, most schools with reported scores were above California averages, but results were not uniformly strong: Da Vinci RISE High was the clearest outlier, with 13% in English language arts (ELA), 5% in math and 8% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%.

Center Street Elementary and Richmond Street Elementary both scored above the state in all three subjects; Center led in ELA by 2 percentage points and science by 6, while Richmond led in math by 2. El Segundo Middle also stood out: its grade 7 ELA and math results were 80% and 78%, respectively 30 and 40 points above state results for that grade. Among high schools, El Segundo High led reported 2024–2025 ELA and math scores at 82% and 62%, while Da Vinci Science led in science at 49%. All-grade scores mix different grade spans, so they are snapshots rather than direct comparisons of every school.

Recent changes differ by school and subject: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Center Street rose 7 points in ELA, 8 in math and 13 in science, while El Segundo High’s ELA score fell 7 points and its math score rose 8. SchoolDigger ranked Center Street and Richmond Street at the 95th statewide percentile, El Segundo High at the 94th and El Segundo Middle at the 93rd in 2025–2026. The schools also have different student profiles: their 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares ranged from 10% at Richmond Street to 90% at Da Vinci RISE; this is context, not an explanation for test results. Among the Da Vinci high schools, Da Vinci Science also scored higher in all three subjects than Da Vinci Communications and Da Vinci Design in 2024–2025, despite similar grade spans and enrollments.
