Summary:
El Segundo Unified has five schools—two elementary, one middle, and two high/continuation schools—serving students from elementary through high school. All Grades scores cover different grade spans, and Arena High (Continuation)’s test results are suppressed. The clearest overall finding is that all four schools with published scores exceeded state results in every supplied same-grade comparison, by an average of 28 points in ELA, 36 in math, and 32 in science.
Among the elementary schools, Center Street Elementary led in All Grades ELA and science: 78% versus 76% in ELA and 78% versus 72% in science at Richmond Street Elementary. Richmond led in math, 82% to 79%. The lowest published All Grades results were at El Segundo Middle and El Segundo High, whose results were very close—about 75% in ELA, 69% in math, and 62% in science. These figures are not a like-for-like ranking because the schools serve different grades.
Recent score trends differ by school: Center Street rose in all three subjects, by 7 points in ELA, 8 in math, and 13 in science; El Segundo High’s ELA fell 7 points while its math rose 8, and El Segundo Middle’s ELA and math slipped while science rose 4. Richmond Street edged up 1–2 points in each subject. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 statewide ranks were 138 for El Segundo High, 189 for El Segundo Middle, 263 for Richmond Street, and 294 for Center Street. As context, free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–25 ranged from 10% to 13% at those four schools and was 28% at Arena; Arena also reported 61% chronic absenteeism, compared with 7% districtwide and 18% statewide.
