Summary:
Bay Point has four schools: three elementary schools serving kindergarten through grade 5 and one middle school serving grades 6–8. In 2025–2026, the four-school averages were 18% proficient in ELA, 11% in math and 14% in science, compared with state averages of 49%, 38% and 36%. The most important finding is that every school’s results were below the state average in all three subjects.
Rio Vista Elementary led the area in ELA at 24% and math at 15%; its math result was 1 percentage point above Bel Air Elementary, the next-highest school. Shore Acres Elementary led science at 20%, 6 points ahead of Rio Vista, but had the lowest ELA result at 12%. Riverview Middle had the lowest math result at 8%. Chronic absenteeism was highest at Bel Air: 40%, compared with 18% statewide; Riverview was at 34%, Rio Vista at 33% and Shore Acres at 31%.
Science improved most: the four-school average rose from 7% in 2024–2025 to 14% in 2025–2026, narrowing the gap with the state by 4 percentage points. ELA was nearly flat and math rose by 1 point, while both gaps with the state widened slightly. SchoolDigger’s 2025–2026 statewide rankings place all four in the bottom 2nd–8th percentiles: Shore Acres 2nd, Bel Air 3rd, Riverview 6th and Rio Vista 8th. School context varies, but does not form a simple pattern with results: among the elementary schools, Bel Air has the highest student–teacher ratio at 27.3, while Shore Acres’ is 22.1 and Rio Vista’s is 23.9. Their reported free/reduced lunch eligible shares for 2024–2025 were 81% at Bel Air, 86% at Shore Acres and 85% at Rio Vista; these are contextual figures, not explanations for test results.
