Summary

Fireside Elementary School serves 693 students in prekindergarten through grade 6 in Phoenix, in the Paradise Valley Unified District. In 2025–26, 77% of students were proficient in English Language Arts (ELA) and 82% in math, exceeding both district and state rates. Most importantly, among nine nearby schools serving the same grade span, Fireside ranked first in math and third in ELA.

Fireside’s results are especially strong in math: its 82% proficiency rate was 32 percentage points above the district’s 50% and 49 points above the state’s 33%. Fifth-grade science remains a strength, but has eased from its recent high: proficiency was 66% in 2022–23, rose to 69% in 2023–24, then fell to 64% in 2024–25—still 30 points above the state and 22 above the district. SchoolDigger ranked Fireside 20th of 900 Arizona schools in 2025–26, at the 98th percentile with five stars; its percentile was also 98th in 2015–16 and peaked at 100th in 2021–22. SchoolDigger’s group rankings show a notable gap for special education students: the group ranked at the 76th percentile in 2022–23, compared with Fireside overall at the 99th percentile. Fireside also has a relatively high student-teacher ratio of 16.5, versus a nearby average of 14, and the largest enrollment in the group; only Boulder Creek Elementary School had a higher reported ratio. ELA and math results cover only one year, and nearby lunch-rate figures are blank, so Fireside’s reported 4.93% free/reduced-lunch rate cannot be compared with those schools.
