Summary

Roadrunner Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Marana, Arizona, serving grades PK-6 with a total enrollment of 375 students. The school is part of the Marana Unified District, which is ranked 154 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Roadrunner Elementary consistently performs below the Marana Unified District and Arizona state averages across various subjects and grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics were significantly lower than the district and state averages, ranging from 20-34% proficient compared to 37-47% for the district and 29-46% for the state. Additionally, Roadrunner Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Arizona elementary schools, with a ranking between 690-961 out of over 1,000 schools in recent years. This places the school in the bottom 30-40% of elementary schools in the state.

Roadrunner Elementary's performance is notably weaker than the nearby Dove Mountain K-8, Coyote Trail Elementary, Rattlesnake Ridge Elementary, and Gladden Farms Elementary schools, which all rank significantly higher in the state and have stronger academic proficiency rates. Despite the school's relatively high spending per student, ranging from $9,535 to $13,274 in recent years, and a low student-teacher ratio of 12-12.2, the challenges in effectively utilizing these resources to improve student learning remain.

Open Quote I haven't been happy with this school for the past several years...that was until Ms. Lions came around. She helps my boy and my family so much. She returns messages at any hour day or night and provides me helpful advice without making me feel like I'm not a good parent. I wish all the staff was like her. She is a great counselor. Open Quote Love this school!! The staff is caring and very dedicated to the students. They have a great college bound program. Each grade level represents a College / University. 1st grade is the University of North Carolina, 2nd is the University of Connecticut, etc.... The students spend the year learning about each university and by the time they go to middle school, they have been exposed to 5-6 different Universities. It is continually reinforced that college is the next step in education after High School. They have an amazing Gifted Education Program and tons of after school programs like martial arts, art lessons, Intro to Spanish, cooking, etc.. My kids love this school. Close Quote
