Open Quote As a current student, BASIS Ahwatukee is subpar in overall quality. Firstly, the administration is very blunt and numb towards students and could care less about helping them. They are frequently handing out punishment as a way to coerce kids to do well in academics, not for their own personal gain. Secondly, the overall cleanliness of the school is quite disgusting. So-called custodians aren't very cooperative with kids and could obviously not give two craps about this job. Despite their "effort", the school is filled with junk and scraps all over, including the MPR. This school is also filled with thieves. My friend and I both lost basketball sneakers each valued over $300, and my sibling lost a graphing calculator worth $120 when , during Pre-Comprehensive Exams, he handed it over to...(guess who!) the administration.
Also, the amount of homework is so big it's not even funny. Kids are given at least 2 hours of homework nightly, beginning in the fifth grade. This obviously leads to the absence of leisure time and time with friends. It also can mean overwhelming stress that makes the student less prepared and confident for exams. The saddest thing is. though, the kids who have below-satisfactory grades are forced by admin to do extra things like see the Dean of students for their respective grade weekly to pressure them into getting their grades together. Those who do not will ultimately be kicked from the school to help the BASIS image prosper. Ever watch "The Thinning", a YouTube movie starring Logan Paul and Peyton List? If not go watch the trailer. A bunch of kids take a goverment test and the ones who don't get satisfactory scores are executed. That's BASIS Ahwatukee, without the death. Lastly the only thing this school is good at is theater. The teacher, Mrs. Helen O'Connell, is wonderful and helps us students become amazing people. But our athletics, for example, is utter garbage. Our basketball team has won one game in the last 3 years, and who knows if we're going to have a team this year. Our flag football program is dismal, as in uor first year, 4 kids show up to tryouts and the fee is $300 without any sort of gear provided. All in all, dont send your kid(s) here. They deserve their childhood. Close Quote
