Summary:

The Tanque Verde Unified District has two elementary schools serving PK–6: Tanque Verde Elementary School and Agua Caliente School. Together they enroll 1,031 students. In 2025–26, both schools were well above state proficiency in all-grades ELA and math: their averages were 66% in ELA versus 41% statewide, and 68% in math versus 33%. The group’s advantage over the state was 10 percentage points larger in math than in ELA. The clearest area-wide takeaway is that both schools outperform state results, especially in math.

Tanque Verde Elementary leads in all-grades ELA and math, with 68% proficient in ELA and 72% in math, compared with 63% in each subject at Agua Caliente—gaps of 5 and 9 points. SchoolDigger ranks Tanque Verde 65th of 900 statewide, in the 93rd percentile with 5 stars; Agua Caliente ranks 146th, in the 84th percentile with 4 stars. But Agua Caliente leads in fifth-grade science, 52% to 50%, and fourth-grade ELA, 86% to 76%—a 10-point edge. The largest grade-level differences are in sixth grade: Tanque Verde leads by 19 points in ELA and 21 in math. Even so, Agua Caliente’s sixth-grade results remain 7 points above the state in ELA and 13 points above in math.

SchoolDigger’s ranking trends are mixed, with Tanque Verde improving most recently while Agua Caliente’s latest position slipped. Tanque Verde moved from rank 99 in 2023–24 to 108 in 2024–25 and then 65 in 2025–26; Agua Caliente went from 139 to 132 to 146. Tanque Verde’s percentile rose 4 points from 2023–24 to 2025–26, while Agua Caliente’s fell 1 point. Tanque Verde also has higher enrollment (582 versus 449) and a higher 2024–25 student–teacher ratio (16.7 versus 14.9). These comparisons cover only two schools; free/reduced-lunch figures are unavailable, and ranking changes are not test-score trends.
