Summary

Troy Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-6 in Troy, Alabama, with 996 students. It is part of the Troy City School District, which is ranked 60 out of 135 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Troy Elementary consistently outperforms the state average in both math and English/language arts assessments across all grade levels. For example, in 2024-2025, 72.66% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in math, compared to the state average of 45.47%. However, the school struggles more with its African American, Special Education, and Economically Disadvantaged student populations, ranking in the bottom half of the state. Troy Elementary has also seen its chronic absenteeism rate fluctuate between 14.8% and 25.7% over the past few years, which is higher than the state average.

When compared to the nearby Goshen Elementary and Pike County Elementary schools, both of which are in the same county but a different district, Troy Elementary generally outperforms them on test scores and other metrics. This suggests that the Troy City School District may be providing a higher quality education than the neighboring Pike County District. However, Troy Elementary has seen a gradual decline in its performance and statewide ranking over the past several years, which is worth monitoring to identify any underlying issues.

Open Quote If you are lucky enough to get a good teacher, your child will excel. Both of my sons attended TES, and they both have exceptional SAT scores. By the way, the best teacher isn't always the "popular" teacher that everyone requests. We have had 11 years worth of teachers at TES. Deb Davis is, by far, the best teacher that either of my sons has had. We have never had another teacher who cared more about my sons' success. Many teachers ignore the kids who are advanced or gifted. Mrs. Davis finds ways to keep the gifted children interested and involved as well. However if you don't want your kid to do homework at night, she isn't the teacher for you. Close Quote
