The most exciting news for parents is the school's dramatic turnaround. After several years ranking in the bottom quarter of Alabama high schools, BB Comer jumped to the 62nd percentile in the 2025-2026 school year—a leap of 142 positions in a single year. This improvement was seen across all student groups, with 11th grade math scores (30% proficient) now exceeding the state average and beating nearby Sylacauga High School (22% proficient). The school's graduation rate has also climbed steadily to 89.7%, though it still trails the district average of 94.3%. What makes this even more impressive is that BB Comer achieved these gains while serving a higher-poverty population (65% free/reduced lunch) and with larger class sizes than its neighbor, Sylacauga High.
