Central High School of Clay County in Lineville, AL, is a public high school serving 533 students in grades 9-12 within the Clay County district, and it is currently in the middle of a remarkable turnaround.

Over the past three years, Central High has climbed an impressive 82 spots in the state rankings, moving from the 26th percentile to the 50th percentile. This progress is especially visible in math and science. In science, 38% of 11th graders are proficient—a rate that beats the state average and far outpaces nearby Munford High School (29.6%), Randolph County High School (22.2%), and Talladega High School (13.8%). Math proficiency has more than doubled in a year to 22.3%, which is the highest among those same neighboring schools.
