Ohatchee High School serves approximately 391 students in grades 7-12 in the rural community of Ohatchee, AL, within the Calhoun County school district.

After four consecutive years of strong 4-star ratings, Ohatchee experienced a significant decline in the 2025-2026 school year, dropping to a 2-star rating. This decline is particularly noticeable when compared to nearby schools serving similar student populations. For example, Pleasant Valley High School has nearly identical enrollment and economic demographics, yet outperforms Ohatchee across nearly every academic metric and maintains a much lower chronic absenteeism rate (8.1% vs. 17.4%). Similarly, Alexandria High School, just 6.6 miles away, ranks in the 78th percentile with 11th grade science proficiency nearly double Ohatchee's rate. The school's 11th grade math proficiency has remained stubbornly low at approximately 17% for three consecutive years, and science scores have steadily declined from 51.85% to 22.81% over the same period.
