For parents, the standout performer is Clanton Middle School, which has climbed to a 3-star rating and now ranks 189th in the state. Its 8th graders excel in science (61.54% proficient) and English (64.29%), both above state averages. Jemison High School also shows strong momentum, jumping from a 1-star to a 2-star rating while achieving a 92% graduation rate. Maplesville High School leads the district with a 93.4% graduation rate. On the other end, Jemison Middle School is the biggest concern—only 7.93% of 7th graders are proficient in math, and it serves the highest percentage of economically disadvantaged students (72.26%). Jemison Elementary School also trails in 3rd grade math (31.32% proficient).

One of the most striking patterns is the success of the PK-12 "alternative" schools.
