Summary

Bryant Elementary School is a top-ranked K-5 public school serving about 470 students in Seattle's Bryant neighborhood, consistently earning 5-star status within the Seattle School District No. 1.

The school is distinguished by its exceptional strength in English Language Arts, where its 93% proficiency rate notably outpaces other high-performing nearby schools like McDonald International School and John Stanford International School, while maintaining very competitive results in math and science. This consistent excellence is achieved across different student groups and has been sustained over many years, even as its statewide ranking among over 1,000 schools fluctuates slightly from year to year.

Bryant operates with a moderate budget per student compared to some peers, suggesting efficient use of resources, and is part of a remarkable cluster of excellent schools in northeast Seattle. It's important for parents to note a common trend seen at Bryant and its peers: test scores often dip slightly in 5th grade, which appears to be a broader pattern rather than a school-specific issue. While schools like McDonald International may have a slight edge in math and science, and Wedgwood Elementary School in science, Bryant's balanced, literacy-focused program offers a consistently outstanding and well-rounded education.

Open Quote We have had a wonderful experience at Bryant! The teachers are amazing. Wonderful and supportive community - teachers, administration, and families. Even through the pandemic teachers have gone above and beyond to keep kids learning and safe! Close Quote

Open Quote Bryant is a community center, not a school. The kids there test high because of the education that they get from their parents not from their professors. My child attended kindergarten and 1st grade there.
In kindergarten they play with "educational" computer games sponsored by kellogs.
In first grade he came back at the end of the school year with almost empty science and math journals. The journals had stickers that said "great job" and "terrific".
The teacher followed the curriculum but never made sure the kids were learning or did their work.
My child scored a 96% in math 99% in reading n his MAP test. I guarantee that it was not because of the education he gets at Bryant elementary. On top of that the school principal does not like to talk about those issues and will do everything possible to avoid meeting with concern parents. Close Quote
