Summary

Whittier Elementary is a high-performing Pre-K through 5th-grade public school in Everett, WA, serving 422 students within the highly-rated Everett School District.

Academically, Whittier is a standout, consistently ranking in the top 10% of all Washington elementary schools for the past decade. Its students significantly outperform both district and state averages in English, Math, and Science. What truly sets the school apart is its exceptional effectiveness with all students, achieving top-tier results for every subgroup, including those from low-income households, which places it in the 99th percentile statewide for supporting these learners.

This excellence is even more notable when compared to nearby schools. For instance, Hawthorne Elementary School, less than a mile away, has dramatically lower proficiency rates despite higher per-student spending. Whittier achieves its elite results with moderate resources and a slightly higher student-teacher ratio than many peers, suggesting remarkable instructional efficiency. The stark contrast with neighboring schools in both the Everett School District and the Marysville School District demonstrates that Whittier's success is driven by its specific practices, culture, and stable leadership, making it a model of what is possible in public education.

Open Quote Elitist. A VERY high percentage of gentry at this school, and if you don't "fit in," you are quickly and deliberately ostracized. Not even that great of a school if you ARE wealthy. Just look at the grounds... how people treat their environment is a sign/symptom of what goes on inside, nothing more. Our experience there was so bad that we are leaving the DISTRICT and considering litigation. Seriously. Therefore, that's all I have to say about that. Close Quote
