Coker Elementary consistently ranks in the top 30% of Texas elementary schools, earning a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger in several recent school years. Open Quote The pick up drop off is absurd.
The morning it is so dark outside at 7:20 that you can not even see your small child walk past (at least) 8 to 10 vehicles .They enforce moving fwd & pay little attention to where children are walking,as long as the cars are moving fwd.I have a real problem with this considering my child has special needs. My child crosses the lot through two sets of moving traffic (the parent child drop off & the bus circle)to get to the door.Outragous! No  way to see if your child even makes it in the door.Considering my child is still at a age they hold my hand in the  lot, I find this disturbing.Afternoon someone who does not even introduce themselves to you or child reluctantly delivers the child in the circle of cars, meanwhile cars are wrapping both directions across front of the school leading in to moving traffic leading blocking the major thoroughfare. Main office has it going on for sure.Props to them for doing a great job! Security's strictly enforced & I applaud that.Professionalism is outstanding in my personal experienced. Not impressed  with the home room teacher appointed to my student or their professionalism.I looked into all before assigned one & wish I had been persistent on my choice. I was convinced to give the present one a try. Big Mistake. My child never had discipline issues before being enrolled here at Coker.Everyday now for about a month has been coming home with negative reports & has been acting out. I believe its negatively impacting esteem & resulting in emotional distress .At home we work on assignments sent  for hours, its obvious it was not taught in school. At this point,we should be getting homeschooling credits. At least something is being learned from somebody even if it does take away from family time &the life that we used to enjoy. Its easy to blame the child.Yet more logical for a teacher to be accountable for why their methods are not working by thinking like a adult and not being so petty. The special ed teacher is a sweet man with a lot of great methods.I believe he yields many good things.I also think being understaffed in this department deems a major problem & a  unnecessary burden for the student teacher ratio.Usually by the time intervention is needed it's already gone off the deep.
I will remain fair & objective reporting back as time progresses.I encourage other parents observance & give us your thoughts on these or other matters regarding your own personal experiences. Close Quote
